A new National Patient Safety Alert has been issued regarding patient hoists and slings, following continued incidents involving serious harm and fatalities during transfers and repositioning.
The alert, issued on 16 September 2026, applies across acute and community healthcare, care homes, nursing homes, care services supporting people in their own homes, and equipment providers.
