Portable and Fixed Pool Hoists

Our range covers both portable and fixed options. A portable pool hoist needs no deck mounting and can be wheeled into position and stored away when not in use, like the I-Swim 1, I-Swim 2 and Pal Portable Pool Hoist. Fixed pool hoists mount to a socket or plate at the poolside for a permanent solution, such as the electric Heron Pool Hoist and the hydraulic Oxford Dipper Pool Hoist. Both give safe, controlled transfers in and out of the water.

Choosing the Right Pool Hoist

The right hoist depends on your pool type and edge, how it will be operated, and the weight capacity you need. Consider whether you need independent or attendant operation, a seat or a sling, and a portable or fixed design. Most of our pool hoists support around 135 to 140 kg and use corrosion-resistant stainless steel built for wet environments. Our team can carry out a site assessment to recommend the best fit.

Seats, Slings and Operation

Pool hoists can be supplied with a pool hoist chair or a sling on a spreader bar, depending on the user’s support needs. A waterproof hand control lets the user or an attendant raise and lower the seat smoothly, and many models can be operated independently for greater dignity. We also supply compatible patient slings for sling-based transfers.

Accessibility and Compliance

For public and commercial pools, a disabled pool hoist helps you meet your duties under the Equality Act by making the water accessible to everyone. Pool hoists are widely used in leisure centres, schools, hotels, rehabilitation units and hydrotherapy pools, as well as private and home pools.

Installation, Servicing and LOLER Inspections

Pool hoists are lifting equipment, so they should be serviced every year and undergo a LOLER examination every six months. Medaco can manage the full process, from pool and room design and installation through to aftercare, with hoist servicing and maintenance agreements and LOLER inspections for patient lifting equipment. Do I need a LOLER inspection for my new patient handling equipment?

Yes. If your product is classified as lifting equipment under the UK’s Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and is used for lifting people, it must receive a thorough examination by a competent person before being put into service (unless a valid Declaration of Conformity and evidence of compliance removes the need for an initial examination), and then at the required intervals thereafter. Employers and equipment owners are responsible for ensuring compliance with LOLER.
